David Ayer, the director of the hit 2016 film “Suicide Squad,” reflected on the shooting of his film adaptation of DC comics and revealed a creative decision he regretted, according to Deadline. “Suicide Squad” earned $747 million worldwide but received harsh criticism from fans and critics.

Jared Leto portrayed the Joker in the film, and his interpretation of the popular character, with the word “Damaged” tattooed across his forehead, did not impress comic book fans. Ayer recently revealed on Twitter that he was responsible for that tattoo.

“I came up with that tattoo. It was my choice. The initial idea was to have the word ‘Blessed’ tattooed on his forehead instead of ‘Damaged,'” Ayer said. “Now that I've revealed this, I can say that I regretted that decision. It led to fan outrage and divided opinions. Not every idea is a good idea. Now I'll just sit in the corner while the internet attacks me for this revelation.”

Ayer also revealed that there could potentially be a release of his version of the film in the future, similar to Zack Snyder's “Justice League” film. Ayer believes that his version of the film is better than the final version released by the studio and that it could remedy the negative opinion of fans, who made him reconsider his career.
