Sam Asghari files for divorce from Britney Spears
Sam Asghari, Britney Spears’ husband, took to social media on Wednesday after filing for divorce from the pop singer.
Asghari wrote on his Instagram Story on Thursday, “After six years of love and dedication to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together.”
He also mentioned that they will maintain the love and respect they have for each other, hinting at the rumors of him blackmailing the singer by revealing embarrassing information about her unless she gives him more money than agreed upon in their prenuptial agreement.
He also wished her all the best with the message, “S*** happens.”
“Seeking privacy now seems pointless, so I will just ask everyone, including the media, to be kind and considerate,” he concluded.
The actor and personal trainer filed for divorce with the Superior Court in Los Angeles on Wednesday, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to a copy of the filing obtained by CNN. The date of their separation is stated as July 28th in the filing.
Prior to this, American media reported that Asghari was threatening to disclose embarrassing details about Britney Spears if she did not give him more money than specified in their prenuptial agreement.
The couple got married in June of last year after getting engaged in September 2021. They met in 2016 when Asghari starred in the music video for Spears’ single “Slumber Party.”
Spears and Asghari tied the knot seven months after the end of the conservatorship under which Spears spent 13 years, which concluded in November 2021.
